I'm going back to my family roots in Scotland to sip a wee bit of tea and spirits, of course, while beginning to get serious about my own writing at an ARVON course in Inverness. So at the conclusion of a long school year and pushing, prodding, and encouraging my high school students to become better writers, I am off to find the time and inspiration to put my own pen to paper, or fingers to iPad, in the Scottish Air!

- I am a high school English teacher who also coaches hoops and xc, and I have always liked to write. In the dead of our New England winter I searched longingly for a writing experience in Europe, and I found the ARVON course with its cozy pictures of Moniack Mhor in Inverness-shire beckoning to me from my computer screen. I also spent March engaged in a flurry of genealogy research to find long lost relatives online AND that I am heavily Scottish on THREE sides. Most interestingly, I tracked my maiden name and paternal ancestors to Dublin in the 1730's. In a strange way, I feel strongly that the universe wants me writing from my roots.
