Standing tall is The Scott Monument and I hiked all 287 steps. I'm sure the Scots would not like to hear that Mark Twain named a sinking steamboat in Huck Finn the Walter Scott! Twain wasn't a fan of the Romantics, but clearly Scott was a big hit at home.
